Let’s plan a trip.
We know many of you are traveling from near and far to join us in London, and we truly appreciate all the time and effort you're putting into being there. To make your journey a little easier, we've put together some helpful info to ensure your trip is smooth sailing from start to finish!
Passports & visa’s
To enter the UK, a US citizen's passport must be valid for the entire duration of their stay.
Starting January 2025, all U.S. citizens transiting through or traveling to the UK for tourism, family visits, etc. will require an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) prior to travel. Please apply for our ETA HERE. We recommend downloading the app to fill out your application — which should cost ~£10 to apply.
Getting to london
By Plane
London is served by several major airports, making it easy to find a flight that suits you. The three largest international airports are:
Heathrow Airport (LHR) – The busiest and most convenient for most international travelers, just a short journey into central London.
Gatwick Airport (LGW) – A major hub with plenty of international connections, about 30 minutes from central London.
London City Airport (LCY) – Perfect for those flying in from Europe, located just 20 minutes from the heart of the city.
By Train
If you’re coming from within the UK or nearby countries, London’s major train stations will bring you right into the action.
King’s Cross Station – Convenient for travelers coming from the north and Scotland, with direct connections to Europe via the Eurostar.
Paddington Station – Ideal for those arriving from the west or Wales, as well as quick access to Heathrow Airport.
Waterloo Station – Great for travelers coming from the south, including those from Paris on the Eurostar.
Getting around london
From the Airport
Once you land in London, getting to your destination is a breeze. Here are a few options to get you to the city center
-
London’s iconic black cabs are readily available at all major airports and rail stations. Simply follow the signs to the taxi rank, and a cab will be ready to take you directly to your destination.
-
For a car anywhere on the go, you can also use the Gett app (the UK’s version of Uber) to request a taxi or private car.
-
Heathrow Airport: Take the Heathrow Express to Paddington Station—a 15-minute journey. Alternatively, the Elizabeth Line and Piccadilly Line on the London Underground also connects Heathrow to central London.
Gatwick Airport: Hop on the Gatwick Express to Victoria Station, which takes about 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can take a regular train service to several London stations, including London Bridge and Victoria.
London City Airport: The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) is the best option, with a ride to Bank Station in just 20 minutes.
In the city
Once in the city, there are many ways to get around. We recommend using the Tube, as London is extremely connected. However, calling a taxi or taking the bus are always good options!
-
London has an extensive and easy-to-use train system, making it simple to get around the city. The Tube is the heart of London’s train network and is the the fastest way to travel around.
Simply buy an Oyster card or use contactless payment (like your credit card, or Apple/Google Pay) to hop on and off at stations across the city.
-
Riding the bus in London is simple and convenient, and you can use the same types of cards as you would on the Tube mentioned above.
-
You can easily use taxis or the Gett app to get around. Simply open the app, choose your ride, and you'll be on your way.
